Free Online Notepad with Rich Text Formatting, Auto-Save & PDF Download
A notepad that opens instantly in the browser and keeps what you write — no sign-up, no login, nothing uploaded. Format with bold, italic, headings and lists, insert emoji, symbols or the current date, switch between nine fonts, search and replace, load a .txt file, and save the result as PDF or plain text. Everything is stored in your own browser, so the note is still there the next time you open the page and the tool keeps working with the network off.
Where your notes are kept
Text is written to your browser's localStorage as you type, on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, there is no account to create, and FixFlowHub cannot read what you write. Once the page has loaded it keeps working offline, because saving never needs the network.
The practical consequences are worth knowing. The note is tied to the browser and the device you wrote it on, so it will not appear on your phone if you wrote it on a laptop. Clearing your browsing data clears it. Private or incognito windows discard it when the window closes. For anything you cannot afford to lose, download a copy as TXT or PDF.
The stats bar under the editor shows the word count, character count, line count and the size of the note in kilobytes, updating as you type. The size figure is the practical limit to watch: browsers cap localStorage at roughly 5 MB per site, which is far more text than most notes will ever reach.
Formatting, and what it does to search
The toolbar gives bold, italic, underline and strikethrough, H1 and H2 headings, bullet and numbered lists, and left, centre and right alignment. Font family and size are remembered between visits along with the note itself.
Find and replace searches the text you can see rather than the markup underneath it. That distinction matters more than it sounds. A phrase like "print the list" where only one word is bold is a single phrase to a reader but is interrupted by a tag underneath, and a search that reads the markup will not find it. Searching the text finds it, and the replacement keeps the formatting of whatever it replaced.
It also means a search can never damage the document. Replacing a common letter throughout a note is an ordinary edit, and it leaves headings, lists and bold runs exactly where they were, because tag names and styles are not part of what is searched.
- Match count updates as you type, before you replace anything
- Aa toggles case sensitivity; the count respects the toggle
- Matches may span bold, italic and other inline formatting
- Replacement text is inserted literally — < and & stay as characters
Getting the note out
Save as TXT writes the plain text of the note to a .txt file named with today's date. Save as PDF opens a print dialog with the note laid out for paper, where choosing "Save as PDF" as the destination produces a file that keeps the headings, lists, bold text and the font you chose. Print sends the same layout straight to a printer.
Copy All puts the plain text on your clipboard for pasting into email or a document. Upload works the other way: pick a .txt or .md file and its contents replace what is in the editor.
All of it runs on your device. No file is uploaded to produce the PDF, and no copy of the note is kept anywhere after you close the tab beyond the one in your own browser storage.
What people use it for
A browser notepad earns its place in the gap between a sticky note and a document. It opens faster than a word processor, survives a closed tab in a way a scratch file does not, and asks for nothing before you can start typing.
Common uses: drafting an email or a message before sending it, taking notes in a call, holding text while moving it between applications, stripping the formatting out of something copied from a web page, writing when you are offline, or keeping a running to-do list that is there again tomorrow.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this online notepad save automatically with no login?
Yes. FixFlowHub's free online notepad auto-saves your text to your browser's local storage as you type. No account, no sign-up, no login needed. Your notes are restored automatically the next time you open the page.
Is my text private — does it get uploaded to any server?
100% private. Nothing ever leaves your device. All data is stored locally in your browser using the localStorage API. FixFlowHub's online notepad works fully offline after the page first loads, so your notes are never transmitted to any server.
Can I use bold, italic, underline and headings in this online notepad?
Yes. The toolbar includes bold (Ctrl+B), italic (Ctrl+I), underline (Ctrl+U), strikethrough, H1 and H2 headings, paragraph formatting, bullet lists, numbered lists, and left/center/right text alignment. It is a full rich text editor, not just a plain text box.
How do I change the font in the online notepad?
Click the font dropdown in the toolbar (default: Sans-serif). You can choose from 9 fonts: Sans-serif, Arial, Verdana, Trebuchet MS, Serif, Georgia, Times New Roman, Monospace, and Courier New. Your choice is remembered between visits along with the font size.
Can I download my notes as a PDF?
Yes. Click Download in the action bar and select Save as PDF. A print dialog will open — choose your printer or select Save as PDF to save the file. Your formatting, fonts, headings, and lists are all preserved in the PDF output.
Can I download my notes as a TXT file?
Yes. Click Download and select Save as TXT. The plain text version of your note is saved instantly to your computer as a .txt file with today's date in the filename.
Can I upload an existing TXT file into the editor?
Yes. Click the Upload button in the action bar and select a .txt or .md file from your computer. The file contents load directly into the editor, replacing the current text.
How does Find and Replace handle formatted text?
It searches what you can see, not the underlying markup. If a phrase runs across a bold word — 'Please print the list', where only 'print' is bold — searching for 'print the' still finds it, and the replacement keeps the formatting of the text it replaced. Tag names and styles are never searched, so replacing a common letter cannot damage your headings, lists or bold text.
Does Find and Replace show how many matches there are?
Yes. The match count updates live as you type in the Find box, before you replace anything, so you can see whether your search term does what you expect. If there are no matches the counter says so rather than leaving you guessing.
Can I make Find and Replace case sensitive?
Yes. There is an Aa toggle in the Find & Replace panel. With it off, 'cat' matches Cat, cat and CAT. With it on, only an exact case match counts. The match counter respects the toggle, so you can check the effect before replacing.
Can I insert emoji into my notes?
Yes. Click the smiley face icon in the toolbar to open the emoji picker. Click any emoji to insert it at your cursor position. The emoji picker includes 30+ commonly used emojis.
How do I insert special characters like copyright, euro, or arrows?
Click the Omega icon in the toolbar to open the special character map. It includes copyright, registered and trademark signs, currency symbols, maths operators, Greek letters, arrows, dashes and more. Click any symbol to insert it instantly at the cursor.
How do I insert the current date and time?
Click the clock icon in the toolbar and the current date and time will be inserted at your cursor position immediately. The format matches your browser's locale.
Does this online notepad work on mobile phones?
Yes. The editor is fully responsive and works on all devices — iPhone, Android, iPad, and desktop browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. The toolbar wraps to fit smaller screens.
Can I use fullscreen mode for distraction-free writing?
Yes. Click the fullscreen icon at the far right of the formatting toolbar. The editor expands to fill the entire screen. Press Escape or click the icon again to exit fullscreen mode.
Does the notepad show word count and character count?
Yes. The stats bar at the bottom of the editor shows live word count, character count, line count, and the size of your note in kilobytes. These update in real time as you type.
Can I undo and redo changes in the online notepad?
Yes. Click the undo or redo buttons in the toolbar, or use the standard keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Z to undo and Ctrl+Y to redo.
